Amazon.com Review
The popular and fun anime TV series "Bakugan Battle Brawlers" has spawned this strategic game that pits a variety of "Bakugan warriors" -- such as "Juggernoids," "Fear rippers," and "Robatallians" -- against each other for points. With this Bakugan Starter Pack, kids 4 and above will enjoy the challenge of earning points by rolling their Bakugan (or shooting them from a launcher) onto magnetic cards where the plastic spheres burst open to reveal the fearsome warrior apparatus inside. Kids will also love the way the Bakugan transform suddenly into warrior mode, and fans of the show will have an especially good time with the game.

What We Think

Fun Factor:

Durability:

(what this means)

The Good: Wide variety of Bakugan make them fun for kids to trade and collect

The Bad: No instructions with some toys

In a Nutshell: Clever and exciting interactive game that kids will enjoy even if they're not familiar with the TV show
At a Glance

Ages: 4 and up
NOTE: This Bakugan Starter Pack includes a random selection of three Bakugan warriors. It also includes three metal cards and instructions. It does not include the optional Bakugan Launcher.

Ready, Set, Play!
The mission of Bakugan game play is to battle against other Bakugan to win the points awarded on the cards by getting your Bakugan to land on card. Players will love pretending to be one of the various characters in the show, such as the fiery 12-year-old leader "Dan" or the wise "Marucho," and they gain a deeper understanding of the cards and warriors as they play.

The Starter Pack includes instructions, making it an ideal way for newbies to get started with this fun and exciting game. The game itself is fairly straightforward, but if your child has never played before, you might have to help him or her to understand the rules -- after reading and understanding them yourself. While some of the plastic Bakugan pieces are small and could easily get lost, others, like the Bakugan Deka, are as big as a softball.

The Starter Pack comes with three Bakugan and three cards -- perfect for kids who are new to the game and who want to try it out. The illustrated instructions are easy to follow.

Exciting Magnetic Action
The Bakugan come in lots of colors and varieties that make them fun to collect and trade. Most of them are pocket-sized and easy for your child to carry around and bring over to their friend's houses. Having a magnet that activates the warriors is a clever idea that adds excitement to the game. The Bakugan Launcher (sold separately) is a great accessory, with three shooting modes ("curve," "angle, and "distance"), but it doesn't come with any instructions.

Room for the Imagination
We like that this that this game combines skill (aiming your Bakugan) with strategy (placement of the cards). We also enjoyed the way the warriors pop open on the magnetic cards -- although sometimes they do it even when they don't land on the cards. Being unfamiliar with the TV show, we felt a little lost at first in the world of Bakugan. But with the help of the colorful, animated Bakugan Web site, we got the gist of what the game is about and how to play. Our attempts to fire the launcher proved somewhat difficult and instructions would have helped. But the launcher isn't necessary. Kids can simply roll the Bakugan like marbles for a fun and action-packed game with their friends.

What's in the Box

Conkers for the younger set5
I had never heard of Bakugan before I asked a friend what to give her six-year old son for his birthday. Then I did research and still didn't understand what Bakugan is. Anyway, the boy was ecstatic when he opened the present. He played with the pieces for a bit and then tried to explain to me how to play. I still don't really have a clue but he was so excited and intent on his own interpretive play that I have to give it a thumbs up. I remember gifts that excited me and any gift that can transport a child like that is definitely going on the 'must repeat' list. Plus, his mother understands the game and approves, which beats the petanque set I mistakenly gave last year.

If you want Bakugan get the Series 1 or 2. . . 3
I ordered these thinking I was getting the original starter packs but then B2s showed up in the mail. I was excited because I hadn't seen them before & I knew my son didn't have any of them. Then we opened the package & they are sooooooo cheaply made it's ridiculous. It's as with any toy from China that is in demand, they knew it was a hot item & went cheap on us making it so we'd have to get more. If your child is into Bakugan go on ebay & look up the Series 1 or 2 regular small marbles. They aren't that expensive at the time of writing this because the majority of people want the high number Gs which the B2s do have. But my son is 5 1/2 & could care less about the Gs. Yes, he knows what they are & we play the game but he cares more about the character marble he has & which one goes according to the cartoon at the time. I have gotten every character off of ebay. .. Christmas is coming. . .and I have not been disappointed in ONE of the series 1 or 2 marbles. They are awesome. So, just find out which ones your child wants look them up & order from there. My son has been playing non-stop with the series 1 & 2 marbles since September(learned about this on the school bus) & they still open & shut awesomely. Got the B2s about a month and a half ago & they don't open all the way or their legs are loose. Skyress is an absolute pain in the tush to close. CRAP! So, good luck I know we get what we can for our kids & this is a good price right now compared to ebay ($18 at time of writing this). Just had to send this out so you'd know what I learned!

awesome value for a great toy!5
I purchased this starter pack for my 10 year old son for Christmas who recently became very into Bakugan with his friends. This was the best value I have found and even though you don't know which one's you are getting, I think most kids would like the surprise and it makes a great gift!! The figures are very cool, opening only on magnetic surfaces and tucking away into balls or "marbles" used in the game. They are pretty durable, but my son has broken one which he managed to "trade" with a friend to get another one. Apparently even broken they still have value :) ! These are definitely hot right now and hard to find in stores. I recommend this product and especially this starter pack...it's sure to please any young boy on your christmas list!

Bakugan Starter Pack Review - Can You Answer the Call to Brawl?

The Bakugan Starter Pack is a very exciting toy for kids who are fans of the anime series. This pack is is a must-have and contains three 'warriors' and magnetic strips to really bring the show to life. Finding this one for the holidays and beyond is going to become essential in the next couple of months.

First, it's important to understand which packs are available. There are several different color options so your little one can choose the colors they like best. Red, green, blue, and black are all very popular. One neat thing is that even within these colors there are different warriors. That means your child will want to collect them all!

Next, it's helpful to know what's included in the Bakugan pack. You'll find:

  • 3 Warriors
  • 3 Metal Gate Cards
  • Instructions

Okay, so you know your kids are excited about this toy; but is it really worth the money? The answer is definitely yes! It's kind of neat because so many of the toys out there are so expensive. This toy will run you less than $16. That is a low enough price that you can get your child's collection started, and possibly add more Warriors to it in the future.

Another concern for some parents is the age appropriateness of the toy. The pack is rated for children ages 4 and up. That means even the littlest ones can get in on the action, which they will really enjoy. The gameplay is easy enough to interest children from this young age up through the middle school years.

In order to play with the Bakugan pack your child will need some skill, imagination, and luck. That's a great combination that will keep your little one entertained for hours. It really is a great thing when you can find a game like this that ties into a favorite TV show for a low price that is so much fun.

What's the downside? Well, the instructions might be a little bit difficult for the younger ones to read and understand. Mom or dad might need to play and guide for a little while. After your child learns the rules it is fairly simple.

The Bakugan Starter Pack is great choice because of the low price and innovative game play. Your kids will certainly have a great time.

Bakugan Games - What Every Parent Needs to Know

This Christmas you may well find that your child has included the Bakugan game on their wish list. Certainly not just in the US and Canada but across the globe this has become one of the top selling toys for 2008. The game itself is based on the anime series shown on children's channels such as Cartoon Network and comes from Japan.

The game of Bakugan is similar in concept to that of Pokemon. However, it doesn't solely rely on them playing just with cards there are also special marbles needed that house the Bakugan creatures inside. Also unlike the Pokemon games where children need to play with each other this one allows a child to play on their own if they wish.

When you are looking to buy such a gift for your child there are several different items that you can purchase for them. Along with the Bakugan starter packs that come in a variety of different colors and which contain three Bakugan marbles and three character cards, there are also the battle packs, booster packs, bakugan arena and launcher to consider as well. Although the launcher and arena are great items to have they aren't essential for the child to be able to play this game.

The cards that are contained within each pack represent various of the characters that are seen on the show. To play the game one lays the cards out on a flat surface (a table will suffice) and then they roll the marbles containing the characters across them. If the card lands on an appropriate card it will stop and the marble unlocks and transforms into a character in a certain fighting position.

However, if two marbles which are used by opposing players happen to land on the same card then a simulated battle takes place between them. It is this which then determines who has won and who has captured the card on which both players have landed. Each player has to add up the number of points on the card to the number of points that their marble has and the one with the highest score is deemed the winner.

This game has been specifically designed for children from the age of five upwards, but the younger ones may find it difficult to do the calculations. But even so they will find the game extremely enjoyable and will love it when their marble lands on the right kind of card and so exposes the character within.

As for the price of the Bakugan games compared to what you would normally pay for a computer console one these are relatively inexpensive. Also as they get more involved so a child can build up the number of Bakugan characters they have. As well as being fun to play it is helping a child improve their maths skills without some of them even realizing it.

Bakugan - A New Age in Battle!

Now that our children are getting older, their preference in toys is changing. They may still like things similar, but now they are probably looking for a game with more action. Bakugan Battle Arena can give it to them. This game is a combination of several games all wrapped into this one. Remember when Bey Blades was a hot craze. Well, take the concept of that game with the high action spinning toys and combine it with the action of the many card games and then throw in the development of individual character balls.

Bakugan was first released in Japan shortly after its creation with a high purchase rate by young and old alike, next the game was taken to Canada, now it is here in the United States. Many retail businesses are having a difficult time keeping this new game on the shelves.

This game is developing so quickly that in many recent discussions throughout the internet, there are actual leagues being set up for tournaments and much more. Trading sessions of the various figures that have such names as; Wavern, Ravenoid and Gargonoid. This is a game that many young adults are also getting into.

If you have a young adult in your family who likes to play some of the many card games with his or her friends this might be the best gift to get them this Holiday season. You may be prone to stick one in your own stocking.

This game is the type that you could get the whole family involved in to play. Bakugan could be the new twist to your family game nights. Set up your arena and begin to have fun.

Bakugan and many of its brother and sister games are a great way to help your children learn strategy, improve on math skills, reading skills and also to help with communication.

I know that there are a lot of parents out there that are unsure about gifts for their children, but, ask your children if they have heard of Bakugan, see what kind of an interest they may hold in this hot NEW game. You might be surprised.

With the recent changes in our economy, I know how difficult it is thinking about Christmas and trying to figure a way to keep costs down during this upcoming Holiday season, but, this game can help you do so.

Starter packs for this game start at around $20.00. This starter pack provides Bakugan cards and information about the game. Booster packs, which include one additional Bakugan card and information, start at under $5.00. I have seen them for as low as $2.50 in some stores. You will want to check your area and online at some of your favorite stores. Accessories can get a little more expensive. You will find arenas and full starter kits ranging from the price of $25.00 up to around $50.00.

This game is not meant to be played by children under the age of 5 or 6, the spheres are small enough that a child prone to put things in their mouths should not have them. The spheres are a little bigger than a large (shooter) marble.

If you would like to check out additional information on this hot NEW game, simply go to Bakugan Battle Arena.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers Explained

There are going to be a lot of confused parents in the UK in the next couple of months as their kids start asking for spring loaded plastic marbles known as Bakugan. These toys stem from the worldwide phenomenon television show, Bakugan Battle Brawlers.

Let me first explain the television show. The Bakugan Battle Brawlers are the group of kids who play the game of Bakugan. It involves throwing down cards and then spheres on top of them to release the Bakugan creatures. The program also follows the exploits of Dan Kuso and the rest of the gang and all their personal relationships.

The Bakugan toys work more or less on the same principle as the television show, which is the genius of the idea. Sega have had a lot of input into the Bakugan game and it is widely regarded that this toy has succeeded where many previous television-related toys have previously failed, with the most notable being Pokemon. Yes, they sold millions of toys and games and the show was a worldwide success but where they failed was coming up with a way to allow kids to play the game themselves exactly as they see it on screen. Bakugan takes this one step further.

The good news for parents is that Bakugan toys will retail quite cheaply, with a single sphere and card set being on offer for around £5. Unfortunately, kids will probably want to build a collection which could prove costly, especially in the run up to Christmas. You can of course get all the paraphernalia, like the Battle Arena and the Bakugan Launcher, which are slightly more expensive.

There's more Bakugan information at Bakugan UK.
